About the Application Process
The Career Academy Forum will be held at Buchholz High School on November 14, 2017 at 6:30 pm. Parents and students can visit booths and demonstrations set up from all the magnet Career Technical Education programs in Alachua County. Buchholz High School will have their Academies Open House (Entrepreneurship and Finance) at 5:45 pm. on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Parents/students have the option to view both programs.
Eighth grade students interested in shadowing during the school day should contact Ms Susanne Jenkins in the Guidance Office at Buchholz. The phone number is (352) 955-6702. Individual shadowing appointments will be scheduled beginning in late October and continuing through early February.
To be considered for acceptance into the Academy of Entrepreneurship, students must meet the following criteria:
Application and acceptance deadlines are set and strictly enforced by the Alachua County School Board, and it is important to meet the deadlines. The deadline for submitting an application to all the district's magnet and choice programs will be in February 9, 2018. All applicants will be notified by email whether or not they have been accepted. Acceptance letters will be sent out to students on February 23, 2017 and commitment letters are due back on March 9, 2018. Second round acceptances will be mailed March 15,2018 and commitments will be due on March 21, 2018
Transportation to career academies for out-of-zone students is provided via satellite stops. Satellite stops will be at the student's regularly zoned high school for both current and new magnet students. There are a few other highly populated magnet stops in addition to the high school sites.
